About the course

NEET, which stands for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, is an entrance exam for admission to undergraduate medical courses in various government and private medical colleges in India. NEET is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) and is the only national-level medical entrance exam in India.

NEET was introduced in 2016 to replace several state-level medical entrance exams and provide a single, standardized entrance test for all medical colleges in India. The exam is held once a year, usually in May, and is conducted in a pen-and-paper format.

The NEET exam consists of a three-hour long paper with 180 multiple-choice questions from subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (Botany and Zoology). Each question carries four marks, and one mark is deducted for every wrong answer.

To be eligible for NEET, a candidate must have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English as core subjects. The minimum age limit for NEET is 17 years, and there is no upper age limit for the exam.

NEET is considered one of the toughest entrance exams in India, and the competition is fierce, with lakhs of students appearing for the exam every year. A good NEET score is crucial for admission to top medical colleges in India, and hence, students often seek professional coaching to prepare for the exam.

NEET is usually conducted once a year in the month of May. However, in 2021, it was conducted twice, once in September and then in October.

Yes, a candidate can appear for NEET as many times as they want, provided they fulfill the eligibility criteria.
